Is Little Fly a rag, a nobody?

Politics of Deceit, Betrayal and Unkept Promises

Excepts of Chapter 3

(People treat you exactly how they feel about you. Don't be blind. Agama is not different. He treats his workers and team members according to how he feels about them. Little Fly was not an exception. He gives a bicycle if he feels it fits you, etc)

Little Fly: (to himself) I have been a loyal member of the National Democratic Congress since 1998 when I turned 18. In fact, I became NDC by virtue of my mother and sisters who identified as NDC in no other place than the strong hold of the New Patriotic Party, Ashanti Region. Growing up in my community, only my big sister and one Kaya Maame were the people I saw wearing NDC t-shirt. This did not deter me from becoming a die hard member of the NDC. I have since been a member of the NDC till today, In spite of several temptations by elements of the NPP such as Steven Amoah to cajole me to join the NPP with the promise to get me into inner circles of Akufo Addo's team, I vehemently rejected the offer.

The first time I felt more like I was involved in politics was when I entered secondary school. In secondary school, unlike my basic school period, we elected the school prefects. In my final year, I won my first competitive election as Compound Overseer. I would have contested as Boys Prefect but for the fact that in those days only Adventists were permitted to be Boys Prefect. My love for politics in secondary school, inspired me to study Political Science at the university.

A couple of years later, I got admission to the University of Ghana to study Political Science, History, Philosophy and Theater Arts. Anyway, I majored in Political Science. I was an active Junior Common Room Member of the Commonwealth Hall of Legon. At some point, I was tipped to become the Chief Vandal. The only reason why I didn't hold student leadership in Legon was my frequent travels outside Ghana. In Legon, I actively participated in TEIN activities and joined major NDC led demonstrations outside campus. Being Okudjeto Ablakwa's roommate exposed me to many student leaders and future politicians such as Francis Sosu, Ernesto Yeboah, Lord Hama, Peter Otukunor, Peter Toobu, etc.

During my national service, I contested and successfully secured my place as the Public Relations Officer of all the national service personnel in GPHA, Tema where I proceeded to lead the Constitutional Review Committee that amended the service personnel's constitution. At the end of my service I was awarded by the NSS Tema Region as a Most Dedicated Service Personal in my year group.

After my service, I won my first branch elections in Ledzokuku Constituency as an Organiser. In 2010, I contested my first constituency election as Treasurer. Unfortunately, I lost to my senior, Charles Mensah.

The new constituency executives nominated me as the ward coordinator for Okpoi Gonno Industrial due to my activism, hardwork and consistency. I joined the campaign team of Sena Okity Duah and by the grace of God she won both the primaries and the general election.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I relocated to Madina constituency where I instantly established a club named John Mahama Forever Club. Through the activities of my club I met Dr Calistus Mahama who was then the head of the Local Government office in Madina or so. I am not sure about his exact portfolio. I aided Amadu Sorogho to retain the Madina seat. It was through my club meetings that Azugu got to know me (Azugu was one of those who recommended Little Fly to Agama. On hindsight, it is clear the recommendation was not done in good faith. It was a trap to stop me from joining the camp of Lawyer (their adversary). I will explain further in subsequent chapters.

I started going on radio stations to represent the NDC. Through that Gabby Esumin told me the National Communication Team had been having meetings at the national headquarters of the party, I could passby to see the boss. One day, I went to the office and Solo invited me to join the team. This opened many opportunities to me including getting communication training from experts and training from our foreign partners from Denmark and other countries.

I contested for an Executive Member position in Madina and won. From there, I dared to contest for the position of national communication officer of the NDC in spite of my limited resources. The election did not go in my way, but the exposure and the experience I gained was quite beneficial even to this day.

I was one of few comrades who felt Prof. Joshua Alabi should be the successor to president Mahama after we lost the 2016 election. I left a solid footprint in this regard. That presidential campaign further sharpened my communication skills gaining appraisal from the very good old professor himself, Chairman Daniel Anang, communication expert Richard Quashiga and others.

I have an enviable track record of managing and aiding presidential candidates, national executive aspirants, constituency, regional and member of parliament aspirants. I did not start politics in Tondoria. I brought years of experience in Tondoria. My efforts though not cherished contributed to the victory of Agama the Big Lizard. In the end, he could not say thank you. Instead, he unceremoniously and ungraciously discarded me. I thank him for teaching me one of life's hard lessons. Thank you Agama

There is a good reason why I chose to write this book and there is a justifiable reason why I chose Agama to be the lead character. Agama represents the typical Ghanaian politician who applies selective honesty and open manipulation to advance their political careers. As the story unfolds, readers will realize that Agama is not entirely a bad character. He has a lot of positive attributes as well.

You invite an innocent man to help you not to lose again so that you will avoid the negative tag of being perceived as a serial loser and as soon as you make it, you kick his ass. I was trained to use the pen to wage my battles and I will use it wisely for the benefit of the world. The idea behind this book is to expose the wrongs in our body politics which have been shelved under the carpet out of genuine fear of reprisal attacks and backlash. Someone ought to bite the bullet.

I must say that nobody brought me to Tondoria. I simply relocated to Tondoria and continued doing politics . As the story unfolds, it will be seen that I was rather used by others, taken undue advantage of and when my use no longer needed, I was discarded like a trash.

To be continued...
