Agama the Big Lizard and the Little Fly part 3

The book Title: Politics of Deceit, Betrayal and Unkept Promises

Chapter 1 ending

Little Fly: (to himself) ¢500? How? Okay, I can see that Agama actually counted my family and paid me according to our number. Myself, my wife and 3 children, you see we are five in number, meaning each of us will get ¢100 each per month. In a shock I actually phoned Agama with the intent to complain about the money, but he did not respond to the call. Of course, I knew he never picked his calls, not even calls from Mr John Dramani Mahama. I was not bothered. I decided to text him on Whatsapp. Bro, this money is woefully insufficient. Respectfully, can you do something about it? I know we are in opposition so things are a little hard but I was not expecting anything less than ¢1000. The message was blue ticked meaning he had read the message.

(In spite of lodging a complaint, Agama continued paying the same amount. From the discussions, it was obvious all the staffers received the same amount with the exception of the permanent secretary, a girl who Little Fly saw for the first time. She was paid ¢800. Little Fly, through research had prior informed Agama that the salary of a social media manager was between ¢3000-¢3,500. The salary of a photographer was between ¢1,500 to 2,500. Hence ¢500 was nothing for someone who combines both roles and additional roles. This was a man who had paid for his own degree in political science and had various trainings in communication, yet Agama felt he was doing him a favor by paying him a paltry sum. The irony in all this was that Agama actually invited Little Fly to his house to take up the role in late 2018.

Agama appeared so humble as he narrated how he lost bitterly in the previous election. He felt lack of social media presence was partly the reason for his loss. This time he wanted the best to help him win. That some of his top team leaders recommended Little Fly to him. When Little Fly started work, Agama had no single social media handle or presence, Little Fly created all his handles then.

It must be emphasized that there is a difference between Little Fly and the other staffers at the Tondoria office. Little Fly was not a team member. He was deployed and employed to solely help Agama the Big Lizard to win his election. Nothing more, nothing less)

(At Agama's Office in Tondoria; few days after work began)

Aguzu: Agama gave me this vehicle to aid his work in our new office.

Little Fly: Congratulations bro! That was nice of him.

(Apalahala also arrived on a brand new motorbike. It was clear, he had also been given a means of transport to run errands for Agama the Big Lizard. Apalahala is one of the staffers.

Days passed, months passed, years came and passed but Little Fly was still driving his own old Toyota Kwame)

(One year later, Little Fly receives a camera from Agama with a promise to get him a drone soon)

Little Fly: (to himself) This guy really thinks everyone deserves a vehicle except me? As for me, I deserve a camera? I see! So when he said it was not fair for me to use my personal vehicle to run errands for him, he actually meant I was such an idiot who deserve a camera instead? Wow! So this is what he meant and I was so stupid to believe such a narcissist. Ah well! Since this is how I am going to be treated, let me go and find some private school to teach. As bad as the salary might be, I may get some ¢1000 minimum. If I sit here one more year without getting a job, my wife will divorce me and my children will perceive me as an irresponsible father in future.

(Little Fly went into teaching full-time which limited his presence in the Tondoria office. This marked the period he started seeing behavioral changes in Agama. The Little Fly dares to put his personal interest ahead of Agama's interest? Agama the Big Lizard will surely punish him at the appropriate time for this audacity. To the average political boss, working for him is equivalent to being his loyal slave. He ought to even grant you permission to make love to your wife. Agama is not different from the average politician. Only few are exception.

A car was given to Domson of Adwoagano, the smooth prince who absolutely had nothing to do with the operational activities of Agama's Office. Little Fly was not surprised though because of things Agama had said about the gentleman. This action further alienated Little Fly and taught him many lessons. He now concluded that Agama never meant well for him and he will never mean well for him).

Little Fly: I am the rag in the office. Agama uses me as a mere stepping rag to enter his office.
