Proximity Doesn't Always Pay in politics

My one Penny Advice to young politicians and political activists 👍 Proximity Doesn't Always Pay in politics. My advice to young people in politics is that they should know precisely what their likely benefits are if they help their BOSSES to be successful in political office. It's hard but bargain for yourself. Don't settle for rice and sugar. That way, you know your self sacrifice is worthy. It's hard to say this but it must be said that politics is selfish enterprise. Remember, the master is not in politics for you. He is in politics for himself. Must I advise you to be in politics for yourself?   Also have this in your head. Winning seats for your mps can never ever be compared to winning presidential elections. In simple terms, what I am saying is that approach politics with a business mindset. Consider yourself as an investor. If the investment is good, continue investing. If it's bad, quit. Look around for better alternatives and invest there. Loyalty is good...

Time To Wake UP

Image
The sad part of our existence as Africans and Ghanaians is that we think the only way and the best approach to solving our financial and economic difficulties is to leave the African continent entirely for Europe and America. Africa has the potential to grow. We can be as rich and industrious as any continent but we can only do it with the right leadership and the right ideology. Currently, we are lost, torn between the lion and the hyena. God does not change the condition of people unless they change what is in themselves. The youth have become disgruntled and disenchanted with the current status quo. They are sick and tired of traditional westernized politicians who promise them sugar and always deliver salt to them. 8 out of 10 Ghanaians of today will leave the shores of our continent for greener pastures if presented with the right opportunity. People who can afford are paying between $14000 and $20000 to travel abroad. Our people are desperate. Our lives have deteriorated in the l...

The Story of Budo

Image
Budo In the mid 90s, Kumasi went into deep slumber and when we woke up, the name BUDO was on every lip. Every young man wanted to be like him. Those outside Kumasi knew him as Kumasi Budo or Buokrom Budo, Ali Joe, Joe Kutaani, Wofa etc. The battle between Budo and Anloga Boozing is still narrated to this day. It was said that he could block traffic and collect money from drivers and shared the money among kids. It was said that if you were robbed of something and you reported to Budo, your things would be returned to you almost instantly.  It is alleged that he was shot dead 15 years ago by his uncle at a short range after a brief disagreement. I only heard of him but never saw him nor saw his picture before until recently. How many of you know Budo?

Ernest Kobeah Tours, Supports Greater Accra Polling Stations

Image
A post on his Facebook page dated 13th May 2023 reads: Earlier today, I was on the grounds to support my senior brother John Dramani Mahama. In all, I toured a total of 8 constituencies in the Greater Accra Region, specifically, Adentan, Madina, Dome-Kwabenya, Ayawaso North, Okaikoi Central, Okaikoi North, Okaikoi South and Weija Gbawe. As part of my tour I donated packs of water and mineral drinks to the constituencies. I did not leave out the national headquarters of the party from the donation. They also received packs of water. Even though I have called my senior brother John Mahama to officially congratulate him, permit me to use this medium to once again congratulate him on a resounding victory. The first hurdle is over. We should prepare for the battle ahead which is to kick out the NPP government, a government that has brought untold hardship on Ghanaians. Like, I always say, I support Mahama 100 percent and I will contribute whatever I can to his 2024 campaign to ensure that t...

Government Bondholders In Trouble

Image
The Ramifications/ Reality for some Ghanaians who have purchased GOG Bonds My Piece and highlights on the “ Debt Restructuring Program” Debt Restructuring is when debt is deferred for a period time. It was announced last year by the finance Minister in the 2023 budget about “ a debt Exchange Program”. The Finance Minister said to us that Treasury Bills are exempted and all holders will be paid the full value of their Investment on maturity. He also said that there will be no haircut on the Principal of Bonds, I totally disagree with him exemptions of the Treasury Bill. Individuals holders of bonds will be most affected , I assume this to be a “ Stephen Johnson Syndrome “ of economic lies. Before I proceed , is better communicators do understand some terminologies for broader - understanding; 1. Haircut: Is the difference between the current market value of an asset and the value ascribed to the asset for the purposes of calculating regulatory capital or loan collateral. The amount Of h...
